“Time is running out, people!” as our 5 year old Maddie says. We found this video she recorded all on her own yesterday and about passed out! 🤣🤣🤣 Hilarious! As a reminder, here is our schedule for the remainder of the season: Tuesday 10/29: CLOSED Wednesday 10/30: Open 4-7pm Thursday 10/31: Open 4-7pm (weather permitting) We will run a hayride at 5:30pm and a u-pick hayride at 6pm each of the nights we are open. All play areas, petting zoo, corn mazes, etc will be open. Then that’s it! Our season ends “very, very, very soon” on October 31st! P.S. The “Maddie Makes It” she mentions is her little bracelet business. She’s been selling her bracelets in our gift shop this year. ❤️

Happy Monday! First we want to say a BIG thank you for how you all showed up for our final weekend! It was amazing and we are so grateful! ❤ Next, we want to fill you in on our plans for our final days of this 2024 season...... Monday 10/28 (tonight), Wednesday 10/30, and Thursday 10/31 we will open 4-7pm. Please note, 10/31 is weather permitting as there is currently a high chance of rain. We’ll keep you posted. 🎃We will have ALL our activities open including our petting zoo, play areas, corn mazes, hayrides, barrel trains, AND u-pick pumpkin hayrides! Hayrides will run at 5:30pm on those nights and u-pick pumpkin hayrides will run at 6pm. U-pick hayrides will remain at their sale price of $9 each! 🌻IN ADDITION, our sunflower field will be open each of these nights! You can access the field with a corn maze ticket or Fun Pass. Who says the kids should get all the treats? Grown-ups deserve something special too! We’ve been hard at work in the kitchen creating this 🍎Apple Donut Sundae🍎 which will be available this weekend while supplies last! Scoops of vanilla ice cream are topped with warm apple pie filling, 4 warm cinnamon sugar donut holes, and whipped cream. OH. MY. WORD. It’s SO delicious and tastes like warm apple pie with ice cream! $6 each.

*CANDY EXPRESS FREE BARREL TRAIN + CANDY* Bring your kids Saturday, October 26th to ride the Candy Express Barrel Train! From 2:00 - 3:00pm on Saturday we will be offering FREE barrel train rides and free candy along the barrel train path for kids 12 and under! The children will board the barrel train (aka The Candy Express) and our staff will hand out candy and treats at various stops around the farm. Wear your costumes! While you’re here (we’ll be open 10am - 7pm Saturday) come take a hayride ($5), play on Pumpkin Ridge ($8 includes petting zoo, giant slides, Fairy Tale Trail, Mini Maze, photo spots, and Loft Indoor Play Area), or venture through our corn maze ($5)! For just $9 a person you can take a hayride + pick a pumpkin right out of the patch while supplies last. 🕛In addition, we are adding u-pick times to make them more convenient. U-Pick Hayrides will run at 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm, 3:30pm, and 5pm on Saturday and at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm on Sunday. 🎟$9 U-Pick tickets can be purchased at our ticket counter. Family members who do not want to pick a pumpkin can ride along for $5 each. Thank you for an amazing Saturday! We appreciate you all so much! We have an important sunflower update. We will NOT have our sunflower field open tomorrow, Sunday 10/20. We are SO sorry about this! The blooms have been slower to open than we anticipated and we had a big turn out today. As a result the field is currently picked clean. There are MANY more blooms to come, they just need more time. We apologize for any inconvenience. We try our best to plan and promote but sometimes things don’t go as planned, especially when you’re waiting for a flower to bloom. 🤪 We’ll keep you posted on the sunflower field re-opening. Should definitely be in good shape by next weekend if not before. Our fall festival will be open Sunday 12-5 as usual!

We’d like to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves and tell our story..... Country Pumpkins was started by Dean and Debbie Colson along with some other relatives in 2000 as a simple roadside pumpkin sales business. By 2010 we grew to a complete fall festival with hayrides, corn mazes, etc. Matt and Shelley and their children joined the business in 2012. Each year since, we have been working hard to reinvest in the business and add new activities. It has become almost a year round labor of love preparing for each fall season. We love watching families come to our farm to make their fall memories......for many it’s become a family tradition and it brings us SO much joy to be part of that. Thank you for visiting us. *CLOSED SUNDAY 9/29.* Due to continued showers tomorrow and very muddy conditions, we have made the decision to close tomorrow, 9/29 as well. We’ve received almost 5 inches of rain so far. It’s such a bummer and we’re sorry to disappoint anyone! 😭 Also, this rain and wind destroyed our sunflower field that was in bloom. Scroll to the end of our photos to see a little good news…we have a 3rd field of sunflowers not yet blooming that benefitted from the rain. These photos show some of the wind damage. All minimal though setting the Hillbilly Hoops game back up took a couple tractors and some effort. Also, it seems that our new Adventure Barn sign has gone on an adventure. 🤣 It’s blown away and so far we can’t find it. If you’re local and find a 5’x6’ orange banner in your field, let us know.

REMINDER: We are CLOSED today, Saturday, 9/28! Our Fall Vendor Fair has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 12th. We will make a decision about Sunday later today. We still need to fully assess wind damage from yesterday and do some clean up. Thankfully, the damage seems to be minimal so far....mostly involving blown over benches, signs, fence, etc. Right now we know Hillbilly Hoops was blown over which is mind-blowing! Fortunately all these things can be fixed fairly quickly. Still need to get into our corn mazes and check them out. Thank you for your patience and support. This is certainly not how we wanted this weekend to go.

*IMPORTANT* We have a SAD update about our Fall Vendor Fair. 😢 We just made the decision to 👉reschedule👈 our Fall Vendor Fair due to rain. It was originally planned for this Saturday, but now we are moving it to Saturday, October 12th. As we’re sure you know, a large hurricane in the Gulf is set to head our way and bring rain into our area this weekend. While we are thankful for the rain, the timing is tough! We want to give our vendors the best chance at success and our customers a fun experience. We greatly apologize to those of you who had already made plans to come and shop this Saturday. Please help us out by sharing this post so we can get the word out! Also, we currently plan to keep our farm open this Saturday and Sunday.....who knows, the weather could clear up! *THIS WEEKEND* at Country Pumpkins! Guess what!? We’ve got a little surprise for you! 🌻Our second field of sunflowers has just begun blooming! You will be able to access our sunflower field starting this Saturday with a corn maze ticket or Fun Pass. Includes 2 u-pick blooms. Please note: this field is very different from our first field this year. There are lots of weeds among the sunflowers and because of the drought these plants only reached about 2.5 feet tall. We will have a limited number blooming this weekend, but lots more should open through next week into next weekend. Here’s the schedule for this weekend: 🎃 Friday open 2pm - 7pm. Hayrides and barrel trains run after 5pm. 🐄 Saturday open 10am - 7pm with all our activities and concessions. It’s Got Milk Day so we will be giving away free cider slushie floats to our first 100 guest and doing free cow milking demonstrations and calf bottle feeding between 11am - 2pm. 🌻 Sunday open 12pm - 5pm with all our activities and concessions.

This week’s *ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK* is our brand new Adventure Barn! Over this past winter and spring, we took our ugly, run-down hay shed and turned into this beautiful new attraction! It features a large corn box, guess who style games, wall ball, giant chalkboard, and a cute farm hopper area with a beautiful mural! The Adventure Barn is the pretty red barn you’ll pass on your way to our parking lot. It’s included with our Pumpkin Ridge Pass and Fun Pass! Open 6 days a week. Closed Tuesdays.

Coming up this Saturday, 9/21 is GOT MILK DAY! You might be wondering, “What the heck is that!?” So glad you asked, we’ll explain. 😀 Did you know our family has been milking dairy cows since 1947 and currently offers a raw milk herd share (which is full)? It’s important to us to honor that heritage and take a special day each season to offer FREE cow milking demonstrations to the public. Usually only our field trip kiddos get to see this educational demo, but on Got Milk Day, we open it up to everyone! You will also get the chance to bottle feed a calf for free - which is such a sweet experience! If you know our family, you know that we are lovers of ICE CREAM! This year on Got Milk Day we have created a very special, limited-edition, cider float and will be giving it away to our first 100 guests. It features two scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with our apple cider slush and a drizzle of caramel sauce to take it over the top! In the words of Brenda our friend, cousin, and concession helper........it’s the best thing we’ve ever made! HA! FREE HAYRIDE NIGHT 🔥 This Friday, September 13th is our annual Free Hayride & Bonfire Night! We open at 2pm for the day, concessions open at 5pm, and FREE hayrides run between 6pm - 8pm. Free activities on this evening include admission and parking, hayride, bonfire, Kiddie Corn Maze, and Sand Tunnel Play Area. This week’s *ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK* is our Barrel Train! This ride pulled by an UTV takes kids 12 and under on a fun journey through our farm! It’s been a kid-favorite for YEARS! Our sunflower field opened today, 8/31, so we thought it was a fitting time to look back on their journey! This field has been a stand out from the start. Planted on July 6th, these little baby plants were popping through the ground in just 3 days! It’s truly amazing how fast they grow. 😍😍😍

You don’t know how scary it is to make a guesstimate on when a sunflower field will be ready, but GUESS WHAT?! We got it right! Whew! 🌻We are opening JUST our sunflower field starting tomorrow morning, 8/31 through 9/5. Don’t miss out on the beauty! Get your tickets at the link in our profile. ***KETTLE CORN & LEMONADE*** We are beyond excited to share that we will be making our very own Homemade Kettle Corn this fall!!! In early August we invested in a piece of commercial kitchen equipment that is basically a little kettle corn factory. It will help us produce the freshest, best-tasting kettle corn ever! So far we are having lots of fun practicing with it and are thrilled with the results! Matt converted this somewhat unused area of our main shelter (last pic) into our Kettle Corn Booth....yes, the giant chair photo spot used to be in front of that wall that now has a cut out.....don’t worry, we moved the chair to a new spot! 😀 Bags of kettle corn will be for sale at FOUR locations here on the weekends starting September 7th: 🍿Kettle Corn Booth 🍿Country Eats & Sweets (our main concession stand) 🍿Snack Station at Pumpkin Ridge 🍿Snack Station in our new Adventure Barn In addition, we have decided to make our own fresh-squeezed lemonade this fall! We weren’t planning to open early for sunflowers, BUT this perfect field of 37,000 blooms (!!!!!) is just TOO GOOD to miss a day of its beauty! We will be opening our sunflower field THIS WEEKEND starting Saturday, August 31st through Thursday, September 5th on select days and times. Once we reach our Fall Festival opening day on September 7th, you can visit the sunflower field without a special timed ticket any time during our business hours for $5 (but we’re not sure how much longer this field will be in bloom by the 7th - likely a week or less). If you want to experience the sunflowers at their peak for photos, etc, we recommend visiting during these designated Sunflower Days from 8/31 - 9/5. ***Advance registration required! Get your tickets at the link in our profile.*** Important to know: 🌻This sunflower field is located on the far side of our corn maze. You will need to walk approximately 1,000 feet from the parking lot to the sunflower field. Shuttle service is not available. 🌻We do not have any photo spots set up in this field, BUT it’s beauty speaks for itself. 🌻We estimate this field contains 37,000 blooms!!! 🌻Average plant height is 4.5 - 5.5 feet tall. 🌻You can arrive any time during your ticket window, please note the gate will close and be locked at the end of the ticket time. 🌻This ticket does NOT include any Country Pumpkins activities.....we are still setting up for that opening day on 9/7. 🌻Photographers welcome! Normally, only our field trips get these two activities, but on Got Milk Day we open them up to everyone for FREE! They were born here on our farm on Derby Day and they absolutely LOVE people! Our Petting Zoo is located on Pumpkin Ride and is included with your Pumpkin Ridge Pass or Fun Pass. *U-Pick Pumpkin Days* We’re excited to share our u-pick pumpkin plans for this year!!! In summary, we will be offering U-Pick Pumpkin Hayrides on Saturdays and Sundays at set times from September 7th until we sell out (we hope to make it well into October). Cost is $11 per person if you’re picking a pumpkin or $5 for family members who are not picking a pumpkin. Now, here are ALL the details: 🎃 U-Pick Hayrides will be offered on Saturdays at 11am, 2pm, and 5pm and on Sundays at 1pm and 3pm beginning on September 7, 2024. (These will be available throughout the season until we sell out - we HOPE to make it well into October.) 🎃 The U-Pick Hayride will be $11 per person and will include a hayride and a pumpkin you get to pick from the field. NOTE: Change from last year, not everyone in your group will be required to buy an $11 u-pick ticket. If you have family members riding along who are not picking a pumpkin, they would only pay the $5 hayride price. 🎃 U-Pick tickets will be available ONLY at the ticket counter. Please arrive early to purchase the tickets for your desired time slot. Spaces are limited. 🎃 If you purchase a Fun Pass online or here at the farm, you will have the option to upgrade to a U-Pick ticket while at the ticket counter for $6 per pumpkin. 🎃 Unlike past years, regular hayrides will NOT stop at the u-pick fields. Only the designated u-pick hayrides will stop. 🎃 Please note, our new Pumpkin Sales area is another way you can buy pumpkins at our farm! It is located near the ticket counter and kept well stocked with freshly picked pumpkins in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors if you prefer to buy pre-picked. Our goal with these changes is to find a happy medium between what we offered years ago, and what we did last year. *SUNFLOWER UPDATE & BUTTERFLY RELEASE* We haven’t talked about this much yet, BUT this summer we planted 2 fields of sunflowers around the outer edge of our 4 acre corn maze. We hope to plant a 3rd field in that area soon. Hopefully we will have sunflowers off and on throughout our fall season with these staggered plantings! Of course, nothing ever goes perfectly to plan, so there will likely be some gaps in the availability. That said, here’s the current plan for sunflowers this year...... 🌻We’re *hoping* to have sunflowers in bloom starting our fall festival opening day, September 7th. This is subject to change. We’ll keep you updated. 🌻The sunflowers are located behind the corn maze so you’ll be able to walk to them. 🌻If you want to see the sunflowers you’ll need a $5 corn maze ticket or a Fun Pass ticket (which includes the corn maze). 🌻Each person will be able to pick 2 blooms for FREE included with your corn maze or Fun Pass ticket. 🌻Additional blooms can be purchased. 🌻This will be a very natural field of sunflowers. We are tentatively planning a Butterfly Release in our sunflowers on September 7th! Because we are at the mercy of so many factors out of our control, we cannot open ticket sales for this event quite yet. We will wait until a bit closer to open ticket sales, just to make sure the flowers will really be blooming at the time. We will keep you posted.🦋 (The sunflowers have grown at least a foot since this first photo was taken a week ago! The next 3 photos were taken last night.)

This week’s *ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK* is our ✨Fairy Tale Trail✨. It is one of our much-loved new additions from last year! The Fairy Tale Trail takes you along a winding path through the corn as you read the story of “Jack and the Cornstalk” on colorful signs. (Tip: We also sell paperback copies of this fun story in our Gift Shop!) The Fairy Tale Trail is located on Pumpkin Ridge and included with your Pumpkin Ridge Pass or Fun Pass. Last night we took a rare moment to enjoy our beautiful fire pit with some friends. We were blessed with the most gorgeous sunset as well! 🔥Did you know you can rent out this area for a private evening event (like birthday parties, engagements, church events, company outings)? On this evening you’ll be able to take a free hayride and enjoy extended hours around our bonfire! This week’s *ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK* is our ⭐Loft Indoor Play Area⭐. Last year we converted the hayloft of our dairy barn into a fun play area for kids! It features a HUGE Corn Box, photo spot, Swiss Miss (a fake cow you can milk), Barnyard Blocks, Barn Loft Hoops, Dress a Scarecrow station, and a giant chalkboard wall! The Loft is included with your Pumpkin Ridge Pass or Fun Pass and is open from September 7th - October 31st. Closed Tuesdays.

New mural REVEAL!!! Have you heard the news? We added a huge mural inside our new Adventure Barn!!! Here are a few photos of the process that took Shelley 45 hours of painting over 10 days! We have a super cute new activity planned for the area in front of this 8ft x16ft painting. You can read about that in our latest blog post linked below. We’re working hard to make this our best season yet! Can’t wait to share it all with you!

✏️ATTN TEACHERS:✏️ We are now scheduling our educational fall field trips! You’ll want to get on our schedule as early as possible as our dates do fill up. This year you can view our availability and request your date online. Field trips include a cow milking demonstration, calf bottle feeding, dairy diet lesson, petting zoo, hayride, play areas, a mini pumpkin to take home, and more! 📣Excited to finally reveal the mural we added to our new Adventure Barn! This took 45 hours of painting and many more hours of planning and prep. Last night we had the honor of being a stop on the Tennessee Agritourism Association’s bus tour! Members enjoyed a meal catered by Browning’s Country Ham while Matt shared info about our farm. Afterward, everyone got a quick tour of our property. Thankfully the weather held out for us. Now hopefully we’ll get some much needed rain today! 🙏
